We breed one to two litters of Golden Retriever puppies each year. We follow these development and socialization standards to raise healthy puppies that become the best four-legged companions possible.
Glenmac Provides:
This is our initial inquiry phase to determine if our breeding program is a good fit for the Golden Retriever puppy you are seeking. No money is exchanged in Step #1.
The contract will be litter specific. It includes the name of the sire, the dam, the anticipated time frame for the birth, an expectation of go-home date of the golden retriever puppies which is based upon the results of the nomograph we do on the dam. The contract includes the price of the puppy, deposit information, terms of the health guarantee, and the expected responsibilities of the puppy owner. PURCHASE AGREEMENTS are sent after the initial inquiry phase and approval.
Once we have executed a puppy purchase agreement your deposit, as outlined in the agreement, will secure your contract and reserve a puppy. The deposit will be applied to the purchase price.
Many will choose to pay in full at the time the agreement is executed. If not, payment in full is expected by the end of week six after the puppies are born. If paying in cash you may bring that when you pick-up your puppy.
GlenMac Goldens does a temperament test of every litter between week 7 and 8. We use a 23-step process with each individual puppy.
We test for sight and sound sensitivity, biddability, courage, people, environment, or scent focus, stamina, a forgiveness measurement, and much more. Depending on the number of puppies in the litter it could be two full days of testing. Testing days are long but they are very informative and rewarding days.
Following the APET we work closely with our buyers to determine the very best puppy for you. This may be the most challenging portion of the process for you. It is hard to wait to know which puppy is your best match. Trust me, it is worth the wait!
After the pups are born we will contact you so you know the litter has arrived. During litters our website and social media pages are kept up-to-date so you can follow along as they grow.
Your puppy pick-up appointment will be set. We know that many owners come from a very long distance so we make every effort to accommodate schedules. You may also elect to fly and go home with your puppy in a carry-on sherpa. We do not ship puppies as cargo.
Chico is 1 hour 30 minutes from the Sacramento International Airport.

The "Winter Wonderland" litter is due soon. We will be in the whelping room by Christmas. Puppies will go home mid-February 2026. To be considered for one of these puppies your first step is to submit a puppy application. (link below)
